JBL Sansibar Dark Aquarium Sand | Premium Natural Aquarium Substrate | 5kg & 10kg

A premium fine-grain natural sand designed for freshwater and marine aquariums. The dark colour enhances the vibrant colours of fish and plants while creating a more natural environment that helps shy species feel secure and display their best colours. The smooth, rounded grains are gentle on sensitive barbels, making this substrate an excellent choice for bottom-dwelling fish such as Corydoras, loaches, and catfish. The dark finish reduces light reflection, encouraging shy fish to behave naturally and display richer colours. 

JBL Sansibar Dark is ideal for planted aquariums, aquascapes, shrimp tanks, and community aquariums. The fine grain size provides excellent root support for aquatic plants while preventing waste and mulm from sinking deep into the substrate, making aquarium maintenance easier. The substrate is completely water-neutral, containing no harmful substances that could alter your aquarium's water chemistry. 

Rinse the substrate thoroughly before use to remove any dust created during transport. Spread the substrate evenly across the base of the aquarium. For planted aquariums, use approximately 6–8cm of substrate or place JBL Sansibar Dark over a nutrient substrate such as JBL AquaBasis for enhanced plant growth.
